Moore Recognizes Patriots Day

Moore Elementary School recognized Patriots Day on Tuesday, September 11th.  Students and Staff were invited to wear Red-White-Blue and observed an extended moment of silence in recognition of the lives lost in the 9/11 events in 2001.  The school also had a flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of school, where members of Boy Scout Troop 35 and Cub Scout Pack 35 helped raise and salute the flag.  Mrs. Hageman and Alex C. played "Taps" once the flag was fully-raised.

A short video was recorded by the Morning Call, and posted on their website Tuesday afternoon.  Below is a link to that video...enjoy!

Meet the Teacher Nights

Moore Elementary School will be holding its annual "Meet the Teachers" Night next week.  There are two (2) nights, assigned as follows:

    * Tuesday, Sept. 11th...we will be holding the Grades 1 through 3
    * Wednesday, Sept. 12th...we will be holding Grades 4 through 6

The night will begin with a presentation for parents in the Gymnasium.  This will begin at 6:00pm, and will feature an overview of the 2012-2013 school year (new programs, last year's PSSA results, changes to the procedures/policies for our school).  This session will end around 6:45pm, at which time parents can move to their students' classrooms.  Please note that no teachers will be available in their classrooms from 6:00-6:45pm.

The night will be split into two (2) sessions, with a "switch" occurring at 7:35pm.  The first session runs from 7:00-7:35, the second from 7:40-8:15.  The night will end by 8:30pm.

During both evenings, there will be information tables set-up outside of the gymnasium and in other parts of the building for programs that Moore Elementary School supports.  We will also be selling "Moore Elementary School Mountain Lions" car magnets (photo below) for $3.00...with proceeds benefiting the Student Activities at Moore.

We are very excited to see the parents and introduce you to our new school year!

Student Homeroom Assignments for 2012-2013

On FRIDAY, AUGUST 3rd...the homeroom assignments for the 2012-2013 school year will be posted.  You can find the information in one of following four (4) ways:
   * On this blog-site (Moore Good News)
   * On Facebook
   * On the NASD Website (a link will be located on the Moore Elementary School page)
   * At the school (they will be posted in the windows of the vestibule and office area)

As a reminder to parents and students, the lists will contain the student ID and not individual student names.  Each student had their ID printed on their 4th MP report cards for this purpose.  This is a confidential number, and should not be shared with anyone.

The room numbers and teacher names will be posted with the student numbers, so students know where to report on the first day of school (which is Tuesday, September 4th).  An example of the listing would be:
STUDENT ID:     HOMEROOM:    TEACHER:
   232323                   023           Mr. Dimmick

Although we understand desires to have specific teachers for homeroom, we cannot accommodate each and every request.  We do take into account specific concerns that have been voiced to administration and guidance counselors, but once the lists are posted they are final.

So...be sure to keep an eye open on August 3rd for the posting on both the Moore Good News website and Facebook, or stop by the school after August 3rd!
