The Zoo Comes to Moore

On Friday, January 25th, the PTA sponsored an in-school program for the students in Grade 1.  The Lehigh Valley Zoo brought their travelling show to the school, that included some cute and cuddly (and not so cuddly) friends!  The presentation was a hit with the students, and they learned a great deal of valuable information about the unique animals and ways to help keep animals safe.  The Lehigh Valley Zoo has been a frequent visitor to our school over the years, and we are very grateful for their willingness to share their expertise and time with us.
We thank the PTA for their continued support of our students and the education they receive, and we appreciate their time and effort in securing the presentations (a special thank you to Mrs. Karc for all your hard work with our in-school programs)!

Here are a few photos of our visitors from the Zoo during their visit...enjoy!

Moore Science Fair

On Wednesday night, Moore Elementary held their 6th Grade Science Fair.  The evening featured an opportunity for the students to present their Science research projects that they worked on throughout the 2nd Semester to their peers, parents, and community members.  It was a wonderful evening, and we had an amazing turn-out!  We were very pleased with the projects, and with the performance of the students - both in their projects and their presentations!

We had several judges who utilized a rubric-system to award the top-3 winners.  We would like to thank them for their time and expertise.  The judges were: Mr. Gogel - NASD Board President, Mrs. Miller - NASD Board Member, Mrs. Hanner - NASD Dir. of Curriculum, Ms. Monteith - NASD Reading Supervisor, Mr. Wilde - NASD High School Physics Teacher, and Ms. Golas - Moore Kindergarten Teacher and Science Teacher.

The top-3 place-winners, based on the judges scores, were:
1st Place - Tyler B.
2nd Place - Colby H.
3rd Place - Jaelee Y.

Congratulations to our winners, and to all of the students who participated in this wonderful event.

A special thank you to Mrs. Cramer - Moore 6th Grade Science Teacher, and Mrs. Shaner - Moore Reading IST and 6th Grade Gifted Teacher for their efforts in developing the Science Fair.  We'd also like to thank the Moore PTA and the 6th Grade Events Committee for providing refreshments throughout the event.

Great job, everyone!

       SPAGHETTI DINNER

Moore Elementary School's 6th Grade Class will be holding it's annual "Spaghetti Dinner and Basket Raffle" on Saturday, February 23rd from 4:00-7:30pm (snow date of Feb. 2/24) at the Klecknersville Rangers Fire Hall.

Moore parents and members of the 6th Grade Events Committee will be doing the cooking, and the 6th Grade students will be doing the serving...and it's ok, you can trust them all...they do a fantastic job :)  All proceeds from the event will be used by the 6th Grade for their class trip.

The 6th Grade Events Committee will be accepting donations for the basket raffle from now until close to the event. If you're interested in making a donation of items for a basket or a basket itself...or if you're interested in joining the Spaghetti Dinner planning committee...please contact Deb Gantz or Kim Hartzell.

Thank you, and we hope to have an overwhelming turn-out for this wonderful event!

Moore Science Fair

Moore Elementary School will be holding it's first "Science Fair" on Wednesday, January 16th.  The Fair will be held in the Gymnasium, beginning at 6pm.  Students in our 6th grade created Science projects throughout the first semester, and will be available to discuss their projects with anyone who wishes to stop by.  Refreshments (pizza, hot dogs, mac & cheese) will be available through the 6th Grade Events Committee of our PTA...with proceeds going towards the 6th Grade Class Trip.

Stop by, have a slice or a "doggie", and learn about all of the great experiments that our students conducted!  Hope to see you there!
