All Moore Families...we need your help.

Over the past couple of months, we are noticing a large amount of silverware being tossed into the trash during lunches, instead of being placed into the collection bin.  We have addressed this several times with the students - across the whole school.  Unfortunately, we will see a change for a bit...but then we start seeing the silverware disappear again.  So, we're asking for your support in addressing this at home with your children.  We do not wish to have be forced to use plastic-ware...but if this problem does not improve, we may be forced to do so.

Since the beginning of the school year, we've had to purchase 551 replacement utensils for the school.  Including last year, when the problem started to appear...we've had to replace over 700 pieces of silverware.  This attributes to almost one piece for every student.  Obviously, the money used to purchase this is from the school/District, and your pockets (taxpayers).  I would prefer to use that money towards items to enhance your student's education!

So, if you could please take a moment and discuss this with your child, so that hopefully we can see a turnaround.  We pride ourselves at Moore as being a family - we look out for one another and help each other out when needed...as well as empower our students to speak up when they see things that "aren't right".  It is our hope that through our combined efforts, we can nip this in the bud now.  So please encourage your students to place their trash in the garbage cans, their trays on the counter, and their silverware in the bin at lunch...and speak up if they see someone not following these Moore Pride expectations.

Thank you for your help and support!!

Our Special Gifts

Mrs. Longacre's Kindergarten class would like to share their "Special Gifts" with all of you for this Holiday season!

Enjoy!

Moore Pride Days!

This school year, we will be celebrating our SWPBS program - Moore Pride - with Show your Moore Pride days throughout the school year. Students and staff will be asked to wear either their Moore Pride t-shirts (which have been ordered, and should be here by the end of the month) or Moore attire (black/red). This is a way for all of us to show our pride in our school, our work, and our behavior. Below is a listing of all of the days we will be observing as Moore Pride days throughout the school year.

Friday, October 3rd
Friday, November 7th
* Tuesday, November 25th - Black/Orange day to support our KKids
Friday, December 5th
Friday, January 9th
Friday, February 6th
Friday, March 6th
Friday, April 10th
Friday, May 1st (students in Grades 5 and 6 have their panoramic photo this day...so they can wear their grade-level shirts if they choose)

Please note that Tuesday, November 25th is a Black and Orange day, and we support our Northampton Football team as they participate in their annual Thanksgiving Day football game vs. Catasauqua.

Throughout the year, we will also celebrate our SWPBS program with incentive days for the students - specifically as a reward for those students who continually show their Moore Pride in their positive behavior and actions, as well as for those students who have zero (0) discipline referrals. Please be on the look-out for more information to come home with your children prior to those incentive days!

Alex's Lemonade Stand

Moore Elementary School will be holding our annual "Alex's Lemonade Stand" during lunches on Tuesday, April 1st.  Lemonade will be available to our students and staff for $.25/cup.  Please feel free to send some change into school with your student(s) this day in order for them to participate in the lemonade stand.  Some teachers may send home specific instructions on how to send the money into school - so please be on the look out for that information to arrive home in your student's backpack/folder (especially the younger classes).

If you are interested in making a donation to the Alex's Lemonade Stand on behalf of Moore Elementary, please visit the following webpage:

Alex's Lemonade Stand was founded by Alex Scott, a courageous little girl who started her lemonade stand to raise money to help other children with cancer. Our school hopes to carry on her dream by holding our own lemonade stand in the spring and by taking donations. We thank you for your support of our students, our school, and our goal of helping children with cancer.

We thank you for your support!
