Over the past couple of months, we are noticing a large amount of silverware being tossed into the trash during lunches, instead of being placed into the collection bin. We have addressed this several times with the students - across the whole school. Unfortunately, we will see a change for a bit...but then we start seeing the silverware disappear again. So, we're asking for your support in addressing this at home with your children. We do not wish to have be forced to use plastic-ware...but if this problem does not improve, we may be forced to do so.
Since the beginning of the school year, we've had to purchase 551 replacement utensils for the school. Including last year, when the problem started to appear...we've had to replace over 700 pieces of silverware. This attributes to almost one piece for every student. Obviously, the money used to purchase this is from the school/District, and your pockets (taxpayers). I would prefer to use that money towards items to enhance your student's education!
So, if you could please take a moment and discuss this with your child, so that hopefully we can see a turnaround. We pride ourselves at Moore as being a family - we look out for one another and help each other out when needed...as well as empower our students to speak up when they see things that "aren't right". It is our hope that through our combined efforts, we can nip this in the bud now. So please encourage your students to place their trash in the garbage cans, their trays on the counter, and their silverware in the bin at lunch...and speak up if they see someone not following these Moore Pride expectations.
Thank you for your help and support!!
