PTA Meeting Minutes from September 12

Parents who missed the September 12th Moore PTA meeting, please review the minutes of the meeting and contact a member of the PTA Board if you have any questions or would like to sign-up to volunteer for one of the dates listed.

Also, Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Joseph Kovalchik, will be a guest speaker at the October 3rd meeting.  The meeting will be held in the Moore Library at 7:00pm.

1.  A cookie dough fundraiser was explained by a representative of the company.

2.  PTA is looking into a few fundraisers. Buyout options available as well.

3.  PTA  buyout walk next year in which students may be able to dress up as their favorite book character.

4.  Looking into basket bingo and vendor fair fundraisers as well.

5.  Shop with Script fundraiser will begin November 7^th.

n  Principal's Report, Mr. Dimmick

            1.  Thank you to all volunteers during the first week of school.

            2.  Art fundraiser for breast cancer Friday, September 23^rd.

                  a)  Received donations from Home Depot.  Mrs. Meade is heading the event.                     b)  Need volunteers for Saturday, September 24^th to coat the paintings.

c)  Auctioning off the artwork on October 7^th.

3.  Could use parent volunteers during school for Friday, September 30^th's pie throwing event.

4.  October 18/19^th parent visitation.  Need volunteers.

5.  Thanks to PTA for funding box-out bullying program.

6.  The positive behavior program is going great to start the year.

7.  Moore Elementary is now on Facebook and a blog.  If chairs or others want something posted on a site, e-mail Mr. Dimmick.

             1.  Rhonda Tucker voted in as 2011-2012 Vice President.

             2.  Received required votes from teacher rep., principal, committee chair.

       In-School Programs, Rachel Karc

             1.  Teachers are able to choose an in-school program for each grade, sponsored by the PTA.

             2.  The following programs are being considered:  L.V. Zoo, DaVinci Center,

                    Hawk Mountain, N'ton Comm. College, Chick Hatching, Arts Quest & more.

       Staff Appreciation, Megan Coccetti       

              1.  Snacks provided to the teachers for the first day of school.

       Cafeteria Volunteer Leader

              1.  New leader is Deb Hurstein.           

       Pumpkin Painting with Pop, Melissa Hartney

       Health & Wellness

              1.  Looking for a chair or someone to help organize a Wellness night in January.

       Reflections, Beverly Jenkins

             1.  Home projects are accepted, and projects are also being worked on in art class

                    this year.

                   2.  Last Day for entries:  October 7^th.    Awards Program:  November 10^th.

News from our Dental Hygienist

All students entering Kindergarten for the 2011-2012 school year are required by the State of Pennsylvania to have a family dentist report completed and returned to school.  The form was included in the Kindergarten packet received at registration.  Please note that the family dentist report can be from one (1) year prior to Kindergarten entry.

Please return the completed dentists report by the start of the school year.  If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Mrs. Arcury, school dentist hygienist.

6th Grade CAR WASH

The 6th Grade students from Moore will be holding a Car Wash on September 24th from 9-3 at the Klecknersville Rangers Fire Company.  The cost is $5 a car, and refreshments/bake sale will be available while you wait.  The 6th Grade is looking for your support, with all funds raised going towards the "events" for the 6th Grade students throughout their year!

So come on out, much on a brownie or cookies while the kids scrub away the dirt and grime of the summer on your vehicle!  The only thing missing will be the "new car smell"!

PTA Meeting

Just a reminder to all families that there will be a PTA meeting on Monday, September 12th at 7:00pm in the Moore Library.  We hope to see many of you in attendance!

Thank You Families!

On Thursday, September 8th, we held our "Meet the Teacher Night" for Grades 4-6.  The night began with some minor glitches (we could not get the microphone to work and it was pretty warm in the gym), but the families that attended gutted it out and made it through Mr. Dimmick's presentation!  Families then moved to their students' classrooms and heard about all of the wonderful and amazing things their children will be doing this year.

We had a great turn-out, and are looking forward to next weeks second night, which is for families of students in Grades 1-3.  We will once again start in the gym at 6pm, and this time we hope to have the mic and A/C working for you!

School is Closed - Wednesday, September 7th

Due to a power outage, Moore Elementary School is closed today -
Wednesday, September 7th.

The "Meet the Teacher Night" for grades 1-3 that was scheduled for
tonight has been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday, September
14th. The time will remain the same...parents report to the gym at
6:00pm, and teachers will begin their classroom presentations at
7:00pm.

Learning SWPBS on the Bus

Today our students learned their SWPBS expected behaviors for the cafeteria and bus.  Here, Mrs. Weaver's class is preparing to board their bus!  We are very excited and pleased with the number of paw-tickets and ROARS that we have handed out in just the first two days!  Congratulations to our students and teachers, and keep up the good work.  You are certainly showing your Moore PRIDE!
